EVSure
With the increase of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles on the road, we need to ensure that our garages have the skills and technology available to be able to work on these vehicles safely.
Servicesure Autocentres signed to EVSure – the only national independent chain of electric vehicle specialists – form part of a credible network of independent garages that are driving quality and standards within this emerging technology and have the correct training, skills, experience, and tooling to work on these electric vehicles.
Although electric vehicles are generally cheaper to maintain due to fewer moving parts, they still need to be regularly serviced to ensure that they are safe on the road and with up to 800 volts running through the vehicle you need to make sure that they are taken to a garage that have the right qualifications and tooling to carry out the service safely.
What needs servicing in an EV?
Electric motors are relatively straightforward, with fewer than 20 moving parts, most services typically involve plugging the vehicle into a diagnostic machine, which will flag any issues that might need attention and ensure that everything is running smoothly
The technician will also check your battery to establish whether it is in a good state of health, as well as visually inspect the cooling system that manages the battery’s temperature and top it up if necessary.
There will also be a visual inspection of the heavy-duty electric cables to check for any damage or lose connections but as these are generally well protected and out of the way you are unlikely to have any issues with them.
Wheel bearings, transmissions and other mechanical components still require lubrication and will receive a quick check over to make sure there aren’t any leaks.
As EVs use regenerative braking, wear to brake pads and discs is dramatically reduced. However, they will still need replacing regularly.
Why use an EVSure garage?
All technicians are trained to The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Level 3 Electric/Hybrid System Repair and Replacement qualification as a minimum. These are nationally recognised, vocationally related qualifications (VRQs) designed specifically for the automotive sector and provide the essential knowledge for individuals to fulfil a job role and proves that the garage and technicians are committed to the highest standards.
EVSure garages offer a better and cheaper alternative to the main dealer and can offer our industry leading national warranty on all parts and labour fitted for 12 months or 12,000 miles that all Servicesure Autocentres have access to (terms and conditions apply).
